Howdy…..Where have you been

Howdy.....Where have you been

Ok let me start by saying sorry for the lack of updates, generally life got in the way a little of big things happening @ GFB Towers.

Saying that we are working towards the Retro Rides Gathering…a full weekend of amazing cars and amazing people. If you’ve never been then I suggest you look it up and try to get there!!!

So whats been going on in the last few months….

Well the Midget was sold, sad to see it go but she was never a keeper anyway. The Capri which will be this years show season car of choice for me (NGFB) has basically had a yog full of cash thrown at it. First off a Suspension rebuild of the front, nothing special just Poly Bushes and new TCA’s etc, I was getting increasingly worried about the state of the suspension and its part of the car “We” have not touched. So to be on the safe Side I replaced it all!!

Also she’s had a new rebuild Diff fitted as the old one was getting a little past it to be honest, it has transformed the cars driveability however now its silent I can hear other grumbles and noises….

The Beetle is pretty much in the same point it was last time we updated the blog…Reason why you ask???? Just life getting in the way and money I suppose. She just need a new rear screen and some Window rubber, so I’m doing my best to Keep Leebo’s interest on this car as she will look amazing once done (and its not much to do). SO COME ON LEEBO GET YOUR WALLET OUT AND ORDER THE BITS!! :-)

The Austin….Same as really, Ive just not had the time to get her to the MOT center however once the beetle is water proof she’s taking pride of place in the garage for finishing off. I want this to be my winter Retro as it would be perfect for them cold days as the Heater is simply amazing!!

MGBGT……This car is always in my mind and the things I want to do, next year she will be out in a slightly different guise thats all Im saying at this point as I want it to be a little suprise.

Midget (Red one)…..Still sitting under the tarp, again this await the water proofing of the Beetle so she can go back in the garage and have the rear end rebuilt.

Passat….Leebos daily, being VAG its running perfect…Still not fitted his new wheels though.

Corsa….. No idea, its Wag’s daily so I guess its working fine like the Passat.
No photos of anything really, but in 7 days its the Gathering so you will see alot of new photos added then!!!

In other news GFBDEVELOPMENTS.CO.UK have their own stand @ the Gathering, so if you see us come over and say hello. You cant miss us as we have all the clothing too ;-)

Much love NGFB

Latest updates!???

Latest updates!???

Whats been going on?? Well Butler has been making his garage a bit more roomy lately with the removal of the Midget, whilst getting ready to sort out the “Soon to arrive” Beetle! (Saturday should be the day).
Goodbye BAG OF CRAP PUG CABRIOLET and Hello old Classic!

The garage has a large OLD bench that was turned round creating some more room and also some steel plating with lips on have been put above to hold the many plastic containers of bolts and bits.. Car-wise.. the Corsa has just not long had some colour sanding and all is ok so far, got to finish it properly because the passenger side hasnt even been touched yet.
On another note it went straight through its MOT today and only has a few little advisories..

Drivers wheel slightly buckled.
Drivers mirror misty, (Due to putting compund on it to remove scratches) TW*T!
Front side repeater bulbs need replacing soon, Orange paint must be flaking off..
Small surface rust on rear inner sills, so soon to underguard after effing off the rust!
Slight Blowing on Exhaust, (Front pipe with CAT connecting to Middle box, its about due anyway)
And thats it.. all ok otherwise.. If anyone has also just had a new MOT then you may have a new certificate!
Arent they all boring and plain now!! Cheap Asse’s!

With regards to other cars Butler’s Capri is in need of Brakes sorting out due to Master cylinder giving up the ghost!
Leebo’s Land Rover seems to be running ok apart from the odd warm up of the engine now and again. aka “Overheating
Hine’s bike Failed MOT because its a BAG basically… hahaha.. Faulty Brake light plus reccomended near future replacement of fork seals..

Isnt life good!, Cars that always have something to do or sort out! And Winter arriving very soon to keep us all from doing them outside! Thank god the garage now has a space for the beetle!

More soon from Butler i hope! No doubt if all goes well on Saturday we will be seeing Beetle pics of it arriving at GFB!

Return of the Corsa! Part 2!

Return of the Corsa! Part 2!

On trying to meet Butler’s deadline of saturday the Corsa was again covered in old newspaper and masking tape!
Finally the passenger side is primed, also re-filled here and there and tomorrow will see some 1500 wet & dry paper heading to the grey surface.. apart from that the front bumper is to be replaced, a new one is already waiting and needs some more plastic primer.. maybe a job for the week after as its loads faster to just do the bumper isnt it!!
Unfourtantely a banging has started on the car as of yesterday and today got slightly worse, it seems the exhaust may have slightly moved over a period of time and now and again vibrates against the sides of its allocated space! Bloody Typical! An easy fix though hopefully! (UPDATE: Middle box pipe that connects to back box has split near the join).

Return of the Corsa!

Return of the Corsa!

Its not easy having the nicest car at GFB..Faster than the Capri 2.8… Better than a polo or Land Rover Freelander!!! So it has to look good too.. This weekend see’s the Corsa finally getting the rest of its paint job done, in the past the boot lid and back bumper were sprayed first with nice results, followed by the Front bumper, Bonnet, Wings and Arch pieces.. Now its time for the sides.. as of today one side is ready and the passenger side is next.. the most tedious bit of the job is the masking.. time consuming and a pain in the arse sometimes.. its only when i see the paint going on that i know its worth it..

The miracle of all this is that NGFB’s MG Midget is coming out of the garage to make more room for future jobs, and thats like chopping off his manhood and putting it in a freezer for a while.. (It just doesnt happen)… the midget holds a hell of a lot of memories for Butler (NGFB) and its a car he wont ever get rid of, same with his MGB GT.. and now his Capri.. anyway, enough of the internet posting.. im off to de-mask the car, as its has to have primer flattened down and tomorrow the passenger side last bits filled and then primed.. One thing i DO know is that there will be a sarcy comment or two on this post! If not then it will be said at the weekend!! lol
