Early weekend? yea right!

Early weekend? yea right!

Well while most of you were busy at work, or posting clips from Youtube! Nathan and me were busy swearing at Edens Golf!  Yep the second newish VW arrives at GFb and causes more than a few headaches.  Its currently sat on axle stands awaiting new ball joints and track rod ends!  It may only have come in for a new set of coilovers, But will leave with a front end rebuild!

The rear offside spring had collapsed and badly needed replacing,  Must admit I’m still a little shocked at the state of the eibach kit.  Anyway a new set of JOM coilovers were sourced and the backs went on with little trouble.  The fronts though not so well.  Ended up removing the whole hub to get the strutt out!  Good job were not affraid of some hard work up at GFB.  And Eden did muck in  and kept us supplied in cups of tea, which was made even better when Nathan got the camp stove out and made us bacon sarnies!!! :)

So thats this weekends plans, Get this all bolted up and done and it has lead to the introduction of a new rule up at GFB.

IF ITS NEWER THAN 1972 AND A VW, WE DON’T TOUCH IT!!!

BEETLE NEWS!!!

Well there isn’t really any! but i have been and purchased a new rear wing and running board mount! So the parts pile is growing slowly!  Were still looking for ideas for this little project so if you have any please comment and let us know! who knows you may get to see them happen!

And now off to do some work! :( catch you all later!

Leebo!

All go @ GFB Towers

All go @ GFB Towers

Afternoon internet folk!

I would have thought one of the others may have updated about the weekends activities. The Corsa was sprayed in a fine shade of “Tipex” white with minimal of issues, to be honest it was probably too cold overnight for it to cure properly but its done and looks amazing (did I just say that about a Corsa, I must be coming down with something ;) ).

Anyway this leaves a nice open space in the Workshop for the Beetle (So where is it I hear you ask, TBH I dont know). Once this arrives the updates will come in thick and fast however for now have a picture of the Midget.

Because I put it back on the ground and saw it like this the juices have started flowing for mods etc, I’ll keep them to myself for now but think 70s custom ;).

As on Monday (just gone) the little Austin is MOT ready, this has been booked for Sat morning. I fully expect it to fail but we have done 99% of the work required it will just be something hidden it did not think about…

Anyway I must sign off now and dream of screaming Pinto engines (Its Thursday afterall).

Cheers

Busy..Busy..Busy

Busy..Busy..Busy

I’ve had messages from a few people asking for an update (Is the Corsa not enough for you guys?).

Anyway I will start by apologizing for the lack of updates by NGFB (me by the way).
Now thats over and done with on with the update!!!

The arrival of the Beetle is looming, Id be lieing if I was not slightly excited about hitting a new project (Others aint finished though) but hey I must stay calm its not mine afterall. Due to the motor arriving some changes need to be made at GFB HO, this means doing something I thought I’d never do…..Move the Midget outside!!!

Now this should not cause an issue as it does have a hardtop and I got a full all weather cover for it, but its my pride and joy so I’ll be making sure its not outside for long. In between the Beetle arriving a car needs to be resprayed, you’ve seen the Updates, its the Corsa so removing the Midget from the workshop is a must for this to happen. I’ll make sure I take some photos so you can see what she looks like, but be aware its not a complete car!

In other news the Austin is 98% MOT ready, just needs a bulb for the FOG light and the Brake master cylinder rebuilding, Im looking forward to using this all winter instead of the Capri……………….Have a picture of Leebo and the car :)

So thats where we are up to, Stay tuned for a big update after the weekend.

Cheers

Return of the Corsa! Part 2!

Return of the Corsa! Part 2!

On trying to meet Butler’s deadline of saturday the Corsa was again covered in old newspaper and masking tape!
Finally the passenger side is primed, also re-filled here and there and tomorrow will see some 1500 wet & dry paper heading to the grey surface.. apart from that the front bumper is to be replaced, a new one is already waiting and needs some more plastic primer.. maybe a job for the week after as its loads faster to just do the bumper isnt it!!
Unfourtantely a banging has started on the car as of yesterday and today got slightly worse, it seems the exhaust may have slightly moved over a period of time and now and again vibrates against the sides of its allocated space! Bloody Typical! An easy fix though hopefully! (UPDATE: Middle box pipe that connects to back box has split near the join).

Return of the Corsa!

Return of the Corsa!

Its not easy having the nicest car at GFB..Faster than the Capri 2.8… Better than a polo or Land Rover Freelander!!! So it has to look good too.. This weekend see’s the Corsa finally getting the rest of its paint job done, in the past the boot lid and back bumper were sprayed first with nice results, followed by the Front bumper, Bonnet, Wings and Arch pieces.. Now its time for the sides.. as of today one side is ready and the passenger side is next.. the most tedious bit of the job is the masking.. time consuming and a pain in the arse sometimes.. its only when i see the paint going on that i know its worth it..

The miracle of all this is that NGFB’s MG Midget is coming out of the garage to make more room for future jobs, and thats like chopping off his manhood and putting it in a freezer for a while.. (It just doesnt happen)… the midget holds a hell of a lot of memories for Butler (NGFB) and its a car he wont ever get rid of, same with his MGB GT.. and now his Capri.. anyway, enough of the internet posting.. im off to de-mask the car, as its has to have primer flattened down and tomorrow the passenger side last bits filled and then primed.. One thing i DO know is that there will be a sarcy comment or two on this post! If not then it will be said at the weekend!! lol
